Yordi - A Lifelong Journey of Growth

More Than One Truth

Oftentimes, there exists more than one truth.

I learned that today at an athletics event, where one of the workshops was dedicated to weightlifting for track athletes. Exercises like cleans, snatches, and more of the sort. Types of exercises I've apparently been doing wrong for the last couple of years.

Or well, wrong? Not really wrong per se. Just wrong given what I wanted to get out of them.

An exercise like a clean can be executed in multiple ways. The Olympic way, or the track athlete way. As an Olympic weightlifter, you put your weight underneath the bar, making a squat in the process to support it. But as a track athlete, that's not a type of move you will ever make. The important part of the clean, for a track athlete, is the stretch you make as you lift the weight up towards your chest. No squats involved. You catch the weight in an upright position.

I have no aspirations to become an Olympic weightlifter. I use weight training to support my running and to prevent injury. So the track athlete clean is my way to go from now on.

Today I learned that in life, multiple truths exist together. It just depends on the context what truth is yours.
